Close-range Inspection

One metal cladding panel was removed to examine the facade system beneath to inspect the anchorage, fasteners and the condition of the backing wall.

Metal cladding is secured to the runner via screws on both lengths of the L-clip.

“What impressed me most as the PFI CP, though, was what’s behind the panels. During a close-range inspection with trial panels opened up, the connection detail turned out to be refreshingly simple: a perimeter L-clip on each panel, screwed to a cladding rail (‘runner’), which is in turn held off the wall by top-and-bottom L-cleats.”
